DESCRIPTION:Seeing Nature Like an Artist \nSaturday\, August 15th 9:30 to 12:30 pm \nHave you ever wondered how those beautiful renditions of wildflowers or scenic landscapes develop? Explore seeing our natural world from an artistic perspective with artist Carolyn Velletri. This session introduces key artistic tools—shape\, line\, value\, color theory\, and composition—through plein air\, or outdoor\, drawing and watercolor sketching. Participants will receive onsite instruction and have time to practice observing and interpreting the natural world. All supplies are included and yours to keep. You do not need any artistic background\, but having an open mind and willingness to see things from a new perspective is essential! Plein air art presents joys and challenges both overall and specifically in watercolor. \nBe prepared to be outside (weather permitting). Please bring your smartphone or camera\, as well as a portable chair or stool if available. \nLimit to six participants (Ages 14 or older)

On August 1st\, you will learn how to take quality images that can be used in real scientific research and receive a sneak peek of the ongoing moth research project at Crawford’s Knob. On September 4th\, we will review the data collected\, and prizes will be awarded to the top bioblitz participants!
